Selected Projects

Backoffice Portal

Client: Leading German discount supermarket chain
Roles: Project Management, Development
Technologies: C#, WPF, WCF, MEF, Active Directory

The software provides a combined user interface to enable the supermarket staff to accomplish their work. Supermarket processes were streamlined and implemented as single-purpose, use-case driven dialogs ranging from inventory control, to cashier-, drawer- and safe-management up to reports, write-offs and orders concerning the regional logistics. User and right management based on systems of the international and national IT's infrastructure were a vital part of the software as well. Country-specific requirements, the international coordination of those and matching up with other involved service providers were the main challenges in this long-running project.

IoT Asset Monitoring

Client: Inhouse product
Roles: Development
Technologies: C#, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, SQL, Angular, TypeScript, Azure, IoT

This inhouse project realizes a multi-tenant platform for monitoring and maintaining IoT assets. During my time in the project, the main target audience was the European construction industry. The platform heavily relies on the transformation of raw IoT data from dozens of vendors into a common data format and processing these data to provide usable information to the customer. Typical areas of application are alerting and scoring systems (e.g. when a vehicle leaves a construction site to an unusal time or a transport of hazardous goods is repeatedly speeding) or monitoring purposes (e.g. retrace the route of a road sweeper). I learned a lot about cloud infrastructure and architecture in this project.

Customer Web Portal

Client: World-class elevator manufacturer and service provider
Roles: Development, Project Management
Technologies: C#, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, SQL, NoSQL, Angular, TypeScript, Azure

The portal enables the customers to monitor and manage all their elevator assets. Users can utilize the portal for different purposes, ranging from contract management and billing to alarm and maintenance history up to statistical summaries for single assets. This project heavily relies on IoT data gathered in the assets and processed in the Azure cloud, therefore the technical architecture down to the configuration of the IoT devices in the assets had to be well-maintained. The technical coordination combined with the business stakeholder's demands were the crucial points in this international project.

Line of Business Application

Client: Leading German leasing intermediary
Roles: Project Management, Requirements Engineering, Development
Technologies: C#, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, SQL, Angular, TypeScript, Electron, Azure

This project was brought into being to replace the out-of-date, 25-year-old current software, which heavily depends on MSSQL, MS Access and VB.NET. The software is rewritten using modern technologies - keeping web accessibility and a shift to cloud in mind. The software is used by the employees to completely handle the business model from start to finish, enable correspondence with contact partners and derive internal statistics and KPIs. As it is characteristic of such software modernization approaches, there are only very few people left knowing the old software and internal processes to a valuable extent. Therefore the requirements gathering and the parallel operation of the old and new software were the key challenges in this project.

Interests

Reading and Writing

Since my childhood I am a regular reader. Mainly science-fiction, fantasy and detective stories. Ursula K. Le Guin, Frank Herbert and Patrick Rothfuss are my heroes. For several years now I am also writing my own short stories and story fragments.

Gaming

Tabletop roleplaying games and boardgames take a huge amount of my freetime. I love to run a session or assume a role in a game with friends. It is a great way to get to know yourself and others better and socialise.

Archery

I love to do archery for my personal balance and mindfulness. I am practicing intuitive archery with the recurve blankbow.
